Setting the Standard
in Menopause Care.
Every woman deserves to feel heard, understood and confident in her care.
The Australian Menopause Institute is being built as a trusted home for women navigating menopause and the professionals who support them.
A place where evidence, practical education, women’s lived experience and better conversations come together — helping women understand more, professionals support them better, and menopause care continue to improve.
One consultation.
Two sides of the room.
Different experience.
Symptoms that overlap. Information that conflicts. A story that isn’t always easy to put into words in eighteen minutes.
Different knowledge.
Evidence, training and time pressure. Different questions to ask, different signs to notice, the same goal held the whole time.
Every menopause consultation brings together two people with different experiences, different knowledge and the same goal: better care.
Walk into the room
informed, prepared
and confident.
Menopause can be confusing. Symptoms can overlap. Information can conflict. And knowing what to raise in a consultation isn’t always easy.
AMI is being built to help women:
- better understand perimenopause and menopause
- recognise and organise what they’re experiencing
- prepare for a healthcare appointment
- understand the questions worth asking
- participate confidently in decisions about their care
- understand what good follow-up can look like
Better knowledge.
Better conversations.
Better care.
Menopausal women interact with far more than one profession — GPs and medical practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, physiotherapists, exercise professionals, dietitians, sexual-health professionals, workplace and wellbeing professionals, and others whose work intersects with women’s health through midlife.
AMI’s wider vision is to become a trusted professional home for practical menopause education, evidence, tools and insight relevant to the role each professional plays.
Some will diagnose and prescribe. Others will support physical health, mental health, relationships, sexual wellbeing, movement, nutrition, work or ongoing care.
AMI doesn’t need everyone doing the same job.
We need everyone understanding the woman in front of them.
AMI sits between both sides.
Women need access to trustworthy information and the confidence to participate in their care. Professionals need evidence, practical education and a deeper understanding of what women are actually experiencing. AMI connects those two worlds.
That principle is already at the heart of AMI’s broader system and the Voice of Australian Women work.
More than menopause information.
There is already a huge amount of menopause information in the world. AMI’s role isn’t simply to add another pile of articles to it. It’s to help make the information useful.
The ambition is simple: when menopause intersects with your life or your profession, AMI should be one of the places you know you can turn.
The Modern Menopause
Consultation™
The consultation women have been waiting for.
AMI’s first flagship professional education experience focuses on one of the most important places menopause care happens: the consultation room.
Initially developed for GPs and medical practitioners, The Modern Menopause Consultation™ brings together evidence-based clinical care, communication, shared decision-making and structured follow-up.
This isn’t another passive menopause lecture. Practitioners enter realistic consultations, make decisions, explore clinical reasoning, hear the woman’s perspective and leave with practical approaches they can use in clinic.
Learn it. Apply it. Keep building on it.
Women’s voices belong
at the centre of
menopause care.
AMI’s Voice of Australian Women initiative is being built to better understand what women actually experience through menopause and menopause care — and what makes a woman walk away from an interaction feeling genuinely heard.
Those experiences can then help shape AMI’s future education, resources, consultation methodology and advocacy.
Women aren’t simply the audience for AMI.
Their experiences help shape what AMI becomes.
Your voice can help change what happens next.
Every woman’s experience of menopause is different. But when women share what they’ve been through — what helped, what didn’t, when they felt heard and when they didn’t — those individual experiences can begin to reveal something much bigger.
Voice of Australian Women is being built to bring those experiences together.
What women tell us can help shape the questions healthcare professionals ask, the conversations they have, the education they receive and, ultimately, the way menopause care continues to improve.
Your experience doesn’t have to end with you.
It could help the next woman feel heard sooner.
Help shape the future of menopause care for the women who come after you.
Sharing your experience is optional and takes only a few minutes.
Dr Kelly Needham is an Australian medical doctor with a special interest in women’s health and menopause. Her clinical experience helped inspire a simple principle at the heart of AMI:
Excellent menopause care isn’t only about what happens clinically. It is also about how a woman experiences her care.
Dr Kelly’s contribution to women’s health awareness, education and support has been publicly recognised in the NSW Parliament.
AMI creates a way for the insights developed through real clinical practice — together with evidence and women’s lived experience — to reach far beyond any one consulting room.
One woman. Many points
of care. One bigger picture.
Menopause doesn’t live neatly inside one doctor’s appointment. It can touch physical health, mental health, relationships, sexual wellbeing, work, movement, nutrition, family and a woman’s sense of herself.
AMI is being built around that reality. For the woman herself. For the professionals around her. For the conversations between them.
